 +On 13 Oct 2025 a new version of the ownCloud Desktop client (6.0.1) was released, fixing the issues from version 6.0.0 that mainly affected Apple macOS computers.

 +Problems with increased system load and with files containing diacritic characters should be resolved in this version. 
 +We recommend macOS users who have ever installed version 6.0.0 to upgrade to version 6.0.1 (or newer). If you are still using version 5.3.x, just wait for the regular update—these instructions are not relevant for you.

 +We are receiving complaints from users on macOS whose ownCloud client has already been upgraded to version 6.0.0. The client causes significant load on the computer and also has problems with diacritic characters in file names. We recommend waiting with the upgrade until the situation is resolved; the previous version 5.3.1 works. Automatic upgrades should now be paused until the bugs are resolved.

 +Version 6.0.0 of the client, for files that contain certain diacritic characters in their names, keeps these files on the local computer, deletes them from the server, and black‑lists their synchronization.

 +If your client has already been upgraded, we recommend waiting for a fix to be released. The ownCloud developers are addressing the issue. After the fix is delivered, we recommend checking the list of files that should not be synchronized.

 +Downgrading to an older client should be attempted only by experienced users, because the new client introduces parameters into the configuration files that older versions do not understand and will refuse to start (the configuration can then be edited manually, or deleted). We expect the ownCloud developers to have a fixed version soon.

 +With regards to the increasing amount of complex security attacks, we were obliged to perform two major changes in access to the data storages du4 and du5. The changes are related to SSH access (i.e. SCP and rsync). In case you do not use any of the protocols mentioned above you can finish reading here :-).

 +**1. Login over SSH protocol** 
 + 
 +Login over SSH using username and password will be disabled. Login via SSH will be further allowed only via SSH key or Kerberos ticket.

 +**2. Restricting network connections from CESNET Data Storage to Internet**

 +The second change is the prohibition of network connection from our data storage in the outward direction (Internet). This change is related to the protection of the internal network of our data storage. It will be impossible to use scp or rsync (running on the data storage) in the outward direction to copy your data. You will need to run the tools from the client side if you wish to download your data. 
 + 
 +In case you were using for logging in username and password (in clients like Filezilla or WinSCP) it will be necessary to setup usage of SSH key pair (see the guides below), you can continue with the following steps: 
 +  * please check the way of authentication you use and perform the necessary changes in authentication for SSH key (or Kerberos ticket), **FTP and samba protocols are not constrained with the changes** - no action is required 
 +  * SSH keys should be added to the data storage exclusively via Perun system, see [[:en:navody:perun:pridani_ssh_klice:start|the guide]]
