Pilsen data center utilizes three-layer model, where the highest layer is represented by fast FC (Fiber Channel) hard disks , second layer consists of SATA HDD and the lowest layer consists of tape library. Data center is in operation since May 2012. It has 500 TiB of hard disks , 3584 TiB of switchable hard disks and 4,8 PiB of tapes (extendable up to 5,5 PiB by providing extra tape media).
Tier 1 consists from two single disk arrays DCS3700 with 342 pcs of 3 TiB SAS HDD. The hard disks are splitted into 32x (8+2) + 2x (6+2) RAID6 groups. Six hard disks are configured such a spare hard disks . Total net capacity of Tier1 array is 804 TiB. Tier 2 consists on the one hand from 7 pcs of MAID arrays Promise Vess R2600fiD and on the second hand from the tape library IBM TS3500. In the MAID arrays is in total installed 734 pcs of 4 TiB HDD. Those hard disks are splitted into 41 groups of RAID6 (16+2). There are 4 hard disks used as a spare hard disks in each disk array. In total is thus available 648 data hard disks with net capacity 2496 TiB. Tape library TS3500 has capacity 3744 TiB.
